What could YOU do to feel safer on the bus?

  • Meet friends before you get on the bus, and stay with them when you get on.
  • If you want to be happy on the bus, think happy thoughts. Ignore everything that is going on around you and repeat silently to yourself, ‘I am happy. I am confident. It doesn’t bother me what anyone else is doing…’

  • If something happens that makes you feel unsafe then think carefully about all the different options you have. For example if people are throwing food around you, you don’t have to just sit there. You could move seats or tell the driver or get off and wait for another bus or ignore it but tell a teacher at school. There are lots of choices. Which would be the best?
  • Tell adults at home and at school if there are any troubles on the bus. You deserve to feel safe and happy. Nobody should put up with a horrible bus journey.
